Thomas’s Experience (Participant)
Exploration.
What does it mean for you? Does it mean to discover distant lands, to learn more about the world, or to discover more about yourself? Exploration; the core of Split Theatre.
Possibilities.
Open your mind to the possibilities that you do not see in your daily lives. Many things we do not notice, that work like clockwork, turning the gears of the biological machine that is your body.
How can you move your neck?
How can you move your arms?
How can you move you legs?
How can you use the space around you?
Space.
Space is not empty.
Space is the possibility of the things that COULD be there. In Split Theatre, space is not empty. It is a canvas that you could paint on, and you are the artist.
Specificity.
Split Theatre requires you to think specifically. You’ll think about how you could move your body to fit the context specifically.
In all honesty, Split Theatre was a great experience for me to meet new people and to boost my confidence. I learnt many things from our weekly sessions with the facilitators, and made some friends along the way. Split Theatre taught me to think about how I could move the different parts of my body, and how I can express something through my body and be direct. It was truly a great experience, and I’m fortunate to have gone there.
