Joey’s Experience (Participant) [he/him]

Doing the Work On The Self programme again for the second time, it made me understand and appreciate the work at a much deeper level and to try and grasp what it means to do something as if for the first time over and over again.

Because I was familiar with certain exercises, it gave me the opportunity to go at it again with both a fresh perspective but at the same time a familiar confidence. This may sound like a paradox, but it is precisely this juxtaposition that allowed me to explore myself more and what my creative outlets were.

I will say that this particular work is only as rewarding as you allow it to be. If you work, you will be met with miracles that come with curiosity. If you don’t, then you’ll miss out on opportunities to explore even when they are right in your face.

At the end of the day, at least for me, what WOTS teaches is how to be able to find not just yourself in the art, but the art in yourself, and how that art relates to the art within others.

It’s a struggle, as it always will be, but the struggle is one that is rewarding and beautiful.
