facilitate (v.)

1610s, "make easy, render less difficult," from French faciliter "to render easy," from stem of Latin facilis "easy to do," from facere "to do".

I don’t think I can ever make someone’s work on their selves, “easy to do”. I don’t aspire to do that either. 

To do, is to materialise something, is to form some definite shape. One’s self is a body of water. River, ocean, reservoir, whatever. There’s a collection of water. This collection of water is fluid, it can change in quantity, quality, its type.

As a facilitator I am at once, bottles of different sizes, shapes, colours, textures. I offer to hold these bodies of water during our sessions. And look in the mirror the parade of shapes and colours. 

To do is important, for if we don’t do, we be just chilling all 10 Saturday nights. 

But to do is also limiting. Sometimes I seek to be good bottles. Too good bottles. Bottles good in my opinion. Of certain specificities I learnt from - not sure where. 

Back to the etymology of “facilitate”. I think I prefer another meaning I saw somewhere else - “To make something likely to happen”. 

Break the bottle. Or no. Put a flower in, become a vase. Expand. Become a bowl. Contract. Become a spoon. A biodegradable spoon? So that I can melt into what I once held.
