Creating Arenas

from SGD 35.00

Join us for a theatre-making workshop!

What are you really good at doing? How long has it been since you have truly mastered a new skill?

The process of mastering a skill takes time. It teaches us how to pay attention to details. It encourages us to go into the unknown. It cultivates perseverance and it helps us learn how to face failure.

For this workshop, we'll provide young adults and youths with the opportunity to master the craft of theatre-making. Through the mastering of a craft, we get to work on our selves. We get to understand ourselves and our relationships with others better. And ultimately, we learn what truly matters to us, and how to create our unique places in society. By the end of the workshop, you will have begun creating a mini solo performance for yourself. No theatre background is necessary.

Key Disclaimer:

Even as Split Theatre often emphasises the work on one's self, participants must be open to learning/honing the skill of theatre-making, because the core aim of the programme is to learn the craft of theatre creation, and in that process, participants will ask themselves many important questions about their own lives: eg. what do you want to do?; why do you want to do that?; what effects do your actions have on your self? You may want to understand the context of our work by reading our blog beginning here: The Actor’s Craft

A note to past participants:

To streamline our programme, we will not be differentiating Arenas 1 and 2 in 2025. Nevertheless, the activities will definitely evolve for each run, and our aim is to help you further develop your mini solo performance over time. Join us whenever possible! For The Third Arena and beyond, participants should be ready to work on their pieces independently, so that we can move at a much faster pace.
